IT'S VERN'S TURN!
Saturday, October 29, 2005 saw still another member of the Station 30 alumni retire. In fact, Lt. Vern Oster was the last active member of the old Miami Shores Fire Department still on the job over thirty years after the merger with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. Station 30 crew members, both active and retired, braved the roads in the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma to drop in at Tamiami Airport Station 24 to join the Air Rescue crews in wishing Vern a fond farewell.
